Pointing out that the average efficiency of Iran’s power plants is higher than some European countries, the spokesperson of the electricity industry said: We are building a power plant with an efficiency of over 50%.
The low efficiency of power plants is one of the challenging issues that have been discussed these days.
Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, the spokesperson of the electricity industry, says in relation to this issue: the average efficiency of the country’s power plants is 39.2%, in other words, it is on par with some European countries, for example, in Italy, it has an efficiency of 39%, while we have an annual average of 39.2%. .
He continued: The new power plants that are being built all have efficiencies above 50%, and the class F ones built by Mapna and Danesh Banianha have an efficiency above 55%. Therefore, in the current situation, we are also increasing the average efficiency.
He added: We have power plants that are in operation only during the peak consumption period and in short hours, or have low efficiency, which is a common thing in all parts of the world, and they are called peak load units or peak load period, which are only for Some hours are used and they are taken out of the circuit, while they are not used in winter.
In response to the question of whether it is better for this power plant to be completely removed from the circuit and not be used anymore, the spokesperson of the electricity industry said: There is the same method in other countries and the efficiency they have by connecting a button after 10 minutes. They enter the circuit and are not like big power plants, they are small power plants that are quickly placed in the circuit and quickly removed from the circuit.
In conclusion, he emphasized: In winter, the efficiency of our power plants is more than 40%. Because most of the combined cycle power plants are used, which require less fuel. To upgrade and develop these power plants, one is to complete the steam phase of the combined cycle power plant, which has been licensed by the Economic Council and is a 2500 megawatt steam unit that does not consume fuel at all, and its gas power plant exists, and the new power plants that are being built are combined cycle power plants. They are class F.
